When You Said Sayonara
Stephen Sandoval, NYC
April 30, 2006
Ate at that familiar restaurant we used to eat at.
The land of pupusas with intimate dining.
I'll never put you from my mind.
How could I let go of my first true love?
When you said goodbye, those last words silenced me,
And I was as the bad witch in the Wizard of Oz.
I faded away into the concrete, another place.
I was completely powerless and speechless.
Even today in this Spring I am thinking of you.
We were friends even until recently,
But you hurt me partly without knowing,
And partly because you didn't even care if you did.
